About Sarah Lilja

Sarah Lilja I am a photographer based in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Photography is an integral part of my exploration of the world. I use my camera to document and explore unique perspectives and anomalous subjects, drawing the viewer's attention to unseen details, vibrant colors, and distinctive compositions.

My photos have won a number of awards and have been published in a variety of print and digital media. I also exhibit both locally and nationally. In 2021 I was awarded the Artist at Pine Needles residency sponsored by the St. Croix Watershed Research Station, a unit of the Science Museum of Minnesota. In 2023 and 2024 I was selected for an artist residency at Lighthouse Arts in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. In 2024-2025, I was the artist in residence at the South Washington Watershed District in Washington County, Minnesota.
